Midwest Charity Horse Show 2019 Updates

Midwest Charity Horse Show, June 11-15, 2019, is excited to welcome trainers, exhibitors and spectators to Springfield and the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The Board of Directors is busy putting the finishing touches on its 78th annual show. Midwest’s award winning national equine competition will again be benefiting Southern Illinois University School of Medicine’s Camp COCO for children with cancer and other blood disorders.

Well known, by now, is the repair and restoration of the historic Coliseum. What you may not know is that the construction teams entrusted with this monumental task are working in two, 10 hour shifts daily to bring this iconic show arena back for all to enjoy. Midwest Charity Board members and management continue to monitor its progress. While construction continues during our event we will again hold this year’s competition in the Covered Arena. We appreciate your patience as we build toward the future of the facility and our show, and look forward to hosting Midwest Charity Horse Show’s champions in 2020 in the Coliseum.

Midwest’s distinguished panel of judges includes: Karen Homer Brown, Georgetown, Ky.; Billy Greenwell, Warsaw, Mo.; and Lee Adams Hudson, Roanoke, Va. All three judges will be judging Saddlebreds, Equitation, Hackneys and Opportunity classes. Karen Homer Brown will judge the Arabian, Morgan and Opportunity Carriage Driving classes. Billy Greenwell and Lee Adams Hudson will judge the Roadster classes. The prize list, entry blank, all other forms and class schedule are available on the show's website at www.midwestcharity.com. Entries close May 1, 2019, postmarked by midnight.

Midwest’s Class Committee continues its multi-breed horse show heritage by adding an Opportunity English Pleasure Open (non-ASB) and Championship to this year’s schedule. Midwest Charity Cup Championship classes held Saturday evening include offerings in the Five-Gaited, Three-Gaited and Fine Harness divisions with $1,000 added money for each class. Exhibitors must qualify in their respective divisions to be eligible.

Once again Midwest will be offering an entry incentive. Encourage your trainers to get your entries in, save money by avoiding post entry and stabling fees and be eligible for the drawing. Trainer entries, complete stall reservations with payment received by May 1, will be eligible for a $500 incentive drawing. Owner and exhibitor entries, complete stall reservations with payment received by May 1 will be eligible for a gift drawing. A consolation drawing for trainers, owners and exhibitors is available if entries and complete stall reservations with payment are post marked from May 2-15. No additional bonus available for any entries postmarked after May 15.

As tradition dictates, the Midwest Charity Horse Show will delight and entertain exhibitors with their legendary nightly parties after the last class in barn 25Q, the famous “Party Barn.” Midwest Charity Horse Show Association is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Many dedicated volunteers give their time and talents to produce this award winning horse show. Midwest Charity is funded only by your entries and sponsorships.
