ARHPA Salutes The Standardbred Journal for $10,000 Added Money to WCHS Roadster To Wagon Championship
The American Road Horse and Pony Association (ARHPA) announced today that The Standardbred Journal will be offering an additional $10,000 in prize money to the Roadster To Wagon Championship at this year’s World’s Championship Horse Show.
“It’s a very generous addition to the prize money and we feel it’s an important way to encourage participants in this historic class that demonstrates the essence of what Roadster horses were originally used for,” said ARHPA President James Nichols. “Mark Yoder and his team at The Standardbred Journal have stepped up to offer and support lucrative programs and competitions for Standardbred Roadsters, and I’m sure the World’s Championship Horse Show appreciates their contribution as much as we, the association for promoting Roadsters, do.”
Scarlett Mattson, manager of the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show, agreed with Nichols.
“We extend special appreciation to The Standardbred Journal for their added prize money in the Roadster To Wagon World’s Championship,” she said. “Their contribution doubles the prize money that was originally offered.”
The Standardbred Journal is a magazine owned by a non-profit 501(c)3 organization based in Mt. Hope, Ohio.
The 2022 Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show — established in 1902 — will be held in Louisville’s Freedom Hall on August 20-27. Almost 2,000 roadsters, American Saddlebreds, and Hackney ponies will compete for honors and over $1 million in prize money awarded in 236 classes. The Roadster To Wagon Championship will be held on Thursday evening, August 25.
