The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association Board Nominating Committee recently announced the successful completion of the new nomination process – developed by the ASHBA Governance Council and unanimously approved by the ASHBA Board of Directors.

“This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to member engagement and strong governance that supports the future of the Saddlebred community,” ASHBA wrote in an email to its members on October 22.

Thirty-eight nominations were submitted, including 28 unique nominations. From the 16 nominees who completed a detailed application, nine candidates were chosen: May Chadick, Texas; Sandy Currier, Texas; Erin Eichenbaum, Florida; Steve Gaw, Missouri; Diego Miron, Florida; Melissa Moore, Kentucky; Scott Robinson, Kentucky; Brooke Simpson, New Hampshire and Barbe Smith, Louisiana.

During the ASHBA Annual Meeting on Feb. 13, 2026, ASHBA members will elect six of the nine candidates to serve on the board. Electronic voting also will be available to those who cannot make the meeting in person.
