What’s better than a 2020 State Fair Horse Show? The 2020 Un-Fair Horse Show!

State Fairs are great for highlighting the Saddlebred, Hackney Pony and related breeds at their shows. But … unfortunately due to the circumstances of 2020, all the state fairs in the Upper Midwest have been canceled. After discussing the need with many trainers and exhibitors in the area it was decided that a substitute horse show was critical for the industry. Therefore, the 2020 Un-Fair Horse Show was created!

The show will be held August 14-16 in Waterloo, Iowa at the National Cattle Congress Hippodrome and promises exhibitors a good time. The theme is “Horse Show on a Stick” and while it isn’t a State Fair, management plans to have fun like it is!

Kelly Hulse of Columbia, Missouri will be on hand to judge Saddlebreds, Morgans, Hackney Ponies, Shetland Ponies and Friesian classes as well as the Saddle Seat Equitation and Open classes. In addition to the traditional classes, there will be several fun classes, including First Time Off-the-Farm, Pro/Am, Egg & Spoon, and even a Showmanship Refresher Clinic. Don’t miss out on being one of the first to participate in the new Ranch Horse division. With over 140 classes in the schedule, there’s something fun for everyone.

Saturday evening’s Parade of Breeds promises to be a hit. Friday and Saturday night classes will feature Spotlight victory passes. You won’t want to miss the Friday Night’s Fairest of the un-Fair Pageant where the winners will be invited to present trophies on Saturday night!

The historic National Cattle Congress Hippodrome Main Arena has been host to decades of horse shows and echoes memories of industry heroes such as Tom Moore, Chat Nichols and countless others presenting great horses here! The show will utilize multiple 200 x 100’ arenas; the main hippodrome will host the performance events while a second covered arena will be available for work, warm-ups and will host Working Ranch and Trail classes.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at all levels including: Funnel Cake, Corn Maze, Giant Pumpkin and Ferris Wheel.
